Interactive tables – Mandalay Bay Central Bar (Las Vegas)
For Réalisations, Art Plus Code developed the user interface for a touch table with video projection at the Mandalay Bay Central Bar in Las Vegas, Eye Candy. The installation offered a playful, social experience: interactive games for people seated at the table, with visual effects synchronized to the bar’s musical atmosphere.
Context
The project sat in a high-traffic entertainment environment where the experience had to be immediate, spectacular, and intuitive. The tables had to work as a game interface, a visual surface, and a vantage point onto the dance floor.
Objectives
- Design a clear, attractive touch interface in a festive setting
- Offer a set of mini-games accessible to all audiences
- Connect touch interactions to reactive real-time video effects
- Energize the bar with short, replayable experiences
Constraints
- Heavy use in a public space (multi-user, continuous operation)
- Fast interactions in a loud, visually busy environment
- Need for smooth, stable visuals
- Ergonomics suited to seated use around a table
Technical solution
We built a custom touch interface for the interactive table, focused on simple, immediate, engaging interactions. A suite of sound-driven games let users manipulate graphics, trigger animations, and explore video effects tied to the rhythm and energy of the venue.
The interface architecture was designed to:
- make pickup easy with no explanation
- support many interactions in a row without interruption
- keep visuals consistent across games and video projection
- maximize the “wow” factor with rich visual feedback
Results
- Immersive, playful experience for bar guests
- Strong social dimension around the interactive table
- Successful integration of touch, music, and video effects
- Stable installation for intensive event-style use
Technologies used
- Custom touch user interface
- Real-time video projection
- Multimedia interaction engine (synchronized visual effects)
- Experience design for entertainment environments
